WILTON — Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Chandler Woodcock of Farmington, and Emily MacCabe, information and education, and Warden Kris MacCabe, both of Wilton, were welcomed by Wilton Fish and Game Association President Phil Maurais at a recent meeting.
Woodcock, former teacher, basketball coach and State Senate member for eight years, said it is a humbling experience to be responsible for Maine’s fish and wildlife. He spoke of many childhood experiences in the woods and on the water.
Woodcock also stated a great opportunity is available for Maine youth. A lifetime license is available for children during a certain age period. Residents may purchase it for their child or grandchild and give them a lifetime of hunting and fishing in the state no matter where they may reside later in life.
Woodcock discussed the deer population and concerns about ice fishing, protecting wild brook trout and stopping invasive species. The commissioner drafts and asks
