MEXICO — Police say a Dixfield woman is charged with drunken driving as she was leaving a local restaurant with two children in her car last week.

Kimberly Money, 28, was arrested by police officer Daniel Carrier at Dick’s Restaurant on Main Avenue on Nov. 3. Money was charged with operating under the influence, endangering the welfare of a child, and violating conditions of release, police Chief James Theriault said.

An anonymous male called the Oxford County Regional Communications Center in Paris at 6:25 p.m. Oct. 3 and reported a woman who appeared to be heavily intoxicated was leaving the restaurant with two children, Theriault said.

Carrier found Money as she was attempting to get into her vehicle. Her speech was slurred and she used the vehicle to steady her balance, he said.

Money had two children with her at the time: her son, whose age was not known, and a friend’s 6-year-old daughter, Theriault said.

“She had claimed she had been driving the vehicle but denied she was drinking,” Theriault said.

Money’s breath alcohol content was 0.247, which is more than three times the legal limit to drive, according to Carrier’s report.

“Even if she wasn’t driving she still was responsible for the children and being at that alcohol level she still would be charged with endangering the welfare of a child,” Theriault said.

Theriault said Money’s son was released to a family friend and the 6-year-old’s mother picked her daughter up at the scene.

Money was taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris and released later on $800 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Feb. 7.
