ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Paul N. Chaloux, 79, died Oct. 29, at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Virginia, after a stroke.

Paul Normand Chaloux, born Feb. 25, 1932, son of Andre W. and Leona Gastonguay Chaloux, was a native of Lewiston and a graduate of St. Dominic High School. He graduated as a mechanical engineer in 1958 at the University of Maine, Orono.

He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954 and played clarinet and saxophone in an Army Band. He married Dolores “Dolly” Murdock of Monmouth on May 23, 1959.

He became an Army Department engineer and worked at the Army Material Command in Alexandria, Va., from 1972, until retiring in 1993.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dolores Murdock “Dolly” Chaloux of Mount Vernon; six children, Paul Chaloux Jr. and wife, Sue, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Janet Chaloux-Baum and husband, Gary, of Encinitas, Calif., Richard Chaloux of Mount Vernon, Va., Michael Chaloux and wife, Rhonda, of Alpharetta, Ga., and Sandra Chaloux and husband, Tom Conway and Maria Chaloux, both of Aldie, Va.; brothers, Marcel Chaloux and wife, Stella, of Lewiston and Andre Chaloux and wife, Rita, of Greenville, Tenn.; a sister, Irene Boucher and husband, Louis, of Harmony; and nine grandchildren.
