WILTON — Police say someone entered a Route 2 East home Saturday night and took a small amount of cash and a digital camera.
Residents saw someone running behind their house when they returned home at about 7 p.m. They left for a short period of time and returned to see a person running behind their house and heard a door shut. The home was left unlocked.
Wilton Police officer Billie Martin and Sgt. Richard Billian responded and found about $60 in cash and a digital camera were taken from the home, said Lucille Porter, administrative assistant for the department.
After Maine State Trooper Scott Dalton and his canine arrived, Martin joined them to follow tracks along the ATV trail to the Munson Road. The dog lost the scent in a parking area, she said. Police were also looking for a vehicle believed to be involved after receiving a call saying it had stopped at the weigh station on Route 2.
The case is still under investigation.
