LEWISTON — Rosaire “Jerome” Desmarais, 75, of 41 Sylvan Ave., Lewiston, died Monday, Nov. 7, at d’Youville Pavilion.

He was born in St. Nazaire, P.Q., Canada, Oct. 19, 1936, the son of Omer and Alice Seyer Desmarais. Educated in Canadian schools, he was a Dominican Brother from the age of 17 to 36, and worked as a cook for the Lewiston Dominican Residence for many years. He also worked as an orderly at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years.

He loved organizing bus trips to Foxwoods and Bangor casinos, and also loved hosting card parties at his home. A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, he was also a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.

Survivors include his loving wife, the former Mariette Reny, whom he married on June 30, 1979; three stepdaughters, Judy Cook, Constance Tardif and Jane Tardif; stepgranddaughter, Violet R. Tanguay; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Dylan, Daniel and David; seven sisters and two brothers, Rita and husband, Bertrand Caron, Laure and husband, Germain Leclerc, Pauline and companion, Rejean Chevriere, Estelle and husband, Roland Rene, Francine and companion, Jean-Guy Viens, Mariette and companion, Gerard Savoie, Denise Roy, Germain and companion, Aline Therrien and Aldee and companion, Monique Telmosso.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Simon and Henri Desmarais.
