Regional School Unit 16 voters on Tuesday ratified the district’s $17.8 million budget by a vote of 2,181 to 1,583.

Voters in all three towns approved this year’s school budget.

In Mechanic Falls, the vote was 565-353. Minot’s vote was 494-438. In Poland, the vote was 1,122 to 792.

School Superintendent Dennis Duquette was pleased with the results.

“We have an officially approved budget,” he said. “Everyone in the district is excited; now we can move forward.”

Tuesday’s referendum was the district’s fourth attempt to pass a budget.

In May, voters rejected an $18.1 million spending plan by a vote of 436-715. In June, with about $270,000 trimmed, the tally was 494-616. And in September, the budget was narrowly defeated, 570-582.
