RUMFORD — Stephen L. Bernard, 66, died unexpectedly at his home on Byron Street, Rumford, Friday, Nov. 4.

He was born in Rumford, Aug. 4, 1945, the son of Edmund and Mary (Fitzmorris) Bernard and graduated from Mexico High School. Steve worked at Diamond National Corp. in Dixfield as a plane machine operator for many years.

He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church, a member of the Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, FOE and Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion. He loved to play cards and cribbage.

Survivors include his daughter, Belinda Briere and husband, Michael, of Rumford; brothers, Thomas and Rene Bernard of Mexico; grandchildren, Joshua Bernard and wife, Kerri, Erik Bernard and Cody Briere, all of Rumford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Pauline Espisito and Charlene Allen; and brothers Theodore, Edward, Frank, Roy and Norman “Butch” Bernard.
