LEWISTON — Lewiston Middle School hockey opened its season Sunday with three wins.

In the first-ever game played by the LMS Lady Demons, they skated to an 11-1 win over York in opening weekend for the Southern Maine Middle School Hockey league (SMMSHL).

Bree Bergeron led the Lady Demons with five goals. Lauern DeBlois opened the scoring three minutes into the game assisted by Jordan Mynahan. Corrine LaBerge netted the next goal, her first of two in the game.

Bergeron took over from there, scoring the next three for a natural hat trick and her final two after LaBerge’s second tally. Kaylee Younk scored the Lady Demons’ ninth goal and registered an assist. Ali McKenzie got the final two goals. McKenzie also had two assists. DeBlois had two assists, with Isabelle Frenette and Angel Drouin notching one helper each. Payton Winslow was strong between the pipes for the Lady Demons, turning aside 24 for the 25 shots she faced.

The Lewiston Blue Demons Tier III A Braun Division team won 5-1 over Bonny Eagle. Isaac Dube was the first star of the game, netting a hat trick. He completed the task with 41 seconds remaining.

Colby Bilodeau had a goal and an assist. Brandon Michaud opened the scoring for the Demons 7:40 into the first period. Dayton Wintle scored the lone tally for Bonny Eagle. Jacob Strout was strong in net for the Demon,s stopping 19 of 20 shots. Thomas Jumper and Allison Frechette played great on the Demons’ blue line.

Completing the Demons hat trick of wins was the Tier I A Soule team with an 8-1 win over Portland.
