100 years ago, 1911

The new grocery store of Reny Brothers was opened on Broad Street last evening. The store which has been built in a new brick building is very attractive and has all the modern conveniences. The proprietors are Eugene and Romeo Reny.

50 years ago, 1961

The clubhouse of the Woman’s Literary Union was colorfully decorated Wednesday for the union’s annual bazaar, which proved most successful. Tables containing the displays of homemade food, candy, aprons, gifts, books, jewelry and plants and novelties by the WLU Garden Club were decorated in brown and yellow, in tune with the season.

Adding to the effect were attractive and artistic arrangements made by Garden Club members and placed throughout the clubhouse.

25 years ago, 1986

Auburn’s downtown post office will be moving by the end of November from the Dunlap Building across the Great Falls Plaza parking lot to the newly constructed seven-story Two Great Falls Plaza office building.

The office will close at noon on Nov. 29 and reopen on the morning of Dec. 1 in its new headquarters, which was constructed by Platz Associates.
