Verso Paper Corp.’s Androscoggin Mill in Jay recently presented the United Way of the Tri-Valley Area with a check for $118,804.32. It represents about a third of the UWTVA’s entire fundraising goal for the year and is about 30 percent more than the mill’s donation last year. This past year, the UWTVA provided funding to 16 programs offered by 18 nonprofit agencies, including Literacy Volunteers, Rural Community Action Ministry, SeniorsPlus, United Methodist Economic Ministry, Western Maine Transportation Services Inc., Work First Inc., Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry, Safe Voices, Sexual Assault Victims Emergency Services, United Valley American Red Cross, Franklin County Children’s Task Force, Community Dental, Healthy Community Coalition, Tri-County Mental Health Services, Western Maine Community Action, and New Beginnings.
