OXFORD — The town’s Ordinance Review Committee will mail surveys to residents in the next week, gauging their priorities and concerns on issues, Town Manager Michael Chammings at Thursday’s selectmen’s meeting.

Roger Jackson, chairman of the Ordinance Review Committee, said two of the most pressing concerns are livestock in the village area of Oxford and whether the town should require victualer’s licenses for people who sell things by the roadside.

The issue of roadside victualers came up during the Nateva Festival in 2010, and Jackson said some are concerned people might set up hot dog stands and other stands around the gambling casino under construction on Route 26.

Jackson said he will write up the survey in the coming days.

Chammings said the town doesn’t have the funding to conduct a statistically accurate survey, which would take different demographics into account. The committee’s survey will be mailed to Oxford residents.

The Ordinance Review Committee voted at their Nov. 10 meeting to request that the Board of Selectmen allow them to send out surveys. The board OK’d the request unanimously.

The board also voted to allow the Baseball Association to raise money and apply for grants for the Pismo Beach ball field project. They also approved the hiring of two temporary part-time deputy clerks to fill in for Town Clerk Ellen Morrison and Deputy Town Clerk Joan Catalano, who are out on medical leave.
