AUBURN — The award-winning Downeasters Barbershop Chorus and Quartets will perform a holiday concert on the Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre stage on Saturday, Dec. 10.

Proceeds will benefit ongoing renovations at the Great Falls Art Center for which the theater has signed a 99-year lease with the city of Auburn.

The chorus, directed by Jack Baggs, will perform a program of good old-fashioned harmonizing with a yuletide/winter theme.

The Downeasters Barbershop Chorus and Quartets placed second in a field of 14 competitive and often larger choruses at the Northeastern District Convention held Oct. 22 in Springfield, Mass.

With members from many communities including Lewiston-Auburn, the Downeaster group based in Yarmouth has gained popularity over its 62 years, appearing throughout Maine.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the art center at 30 Academy St. For tickets, $15, call 783-0958 or visit www.laclt.com.
