Many years ago, in Lewiston, there were two daily newspapers — one in the morning and one in the evening. They were called the Lewiston Daily Sun and the Lewiston Evening Journal. I got interested in reading those two papers when I returned from serving in the Army, although I did read the Stars and Stripes when in Korea and the U.S.
These days, it is more important than ever for young people to start reading the newspaper at a young age so they will know what is happening locally and in the world. I understand that in schools they do try to show students how important it is to learn, and reading the newspaper is a very good way as there is much more news and in more detail than what is on television news shows.
Parents should make sure their teenage kids, especially, read the newspaper daily. These days, too many youngsters have no inkling of what is happening in the world. That is understandable, but their attention should be directed to reading the daily newspapers.
