Free turkey dinner

NORWAY — The Community Thanksgiving Dinner Committee invites people from Oxford Hills to share a Thanksgiving Day meal with friends and neighbors.

A full-course dinner will be prepared and served by members of St. Catherine of Sienna and Christ Episcopal Church at St. Catherine’s Church on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, to anyone who wishes to attend. The meal will begin at noon in the church hall, 32 Paris St.

A traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be served family-style with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and vegetables along with homemade pies for dessert. There is no charge to attend.

The dinner follows a practice that began more than 20 years ago by a parishioner of St. Catherine of Sienna Church who recognized a need in the community.

Psychic self

HARTFORD — Pinpoint of Light Spiritualist Center, Hartford Town Hall, 1190 Main St., will present “Meet Your Psychic Self” at 10:30 a.m. Sundays, Nov. 27 and Dec. 4. The two-week session features an overview of what it means to be psychic, followed by guided visualization to help attendees attain the proper state of mind to exercise their own psychic abilities.

PARIS — Sharon Bouchard will be the worship leader at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., on Sunday, Nov. 27. The service will begin at 10 a.m. with Renee Wales, flutist, and Forest Perkins, organist. Wales will lead the Sunday School. The Coffee Hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

E-book intro

PARIS — The Paris Public Library will provide an “Introduction to E-book Readers” program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29. The goal of the program will be to provide useful information to anyone considering purchasing an e-book reader.

Discussion will include the various models that are available and sources of e-books, including the library.

Anyone who already owns an e-book reader is invited to share tips or reviews with other owners or prospective buyers. A couple of e-book readers will be available for prospective buyers to view and touch at the session.

Supper, tree lighting

WATERFORD — There will be a pot luck supper and the lighting of a Tree of Peace and Love at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the North Waterford Congregational Church, 5 Kezars Road, followed by caroling in the sanctuary.

For the holiday season, there will be a Tree of Peace and Love located on the lawns of both the North Waterford and East Stoneham churches. They will initially be wrapped in colored lights. For a $5 donation a light bulb will be changed to white and the wish/prayer or name of the individual it has been given in honor of will be written on an origami paper crane and hung on the tree.

The collection will help support the mission and ministries of the Oxford County United Parish and symbolize the spread of peace and love in our communities and the world. Checks can be made out to the parish and mailed to 346 Bisbeetown Road, Waterford, ME 04088.
