PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Omer R. Parent Sr., 93, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans Nursing home.
He was born in Lewiston, April 17, 1918, to the late Rodolphe and Roberts (Ouellette) Parent. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He spent most of his working career with the Lewiston Public Works Department. After 27 years, he retired in 1972 as a senior construction inspector. In 1982, he retired from Carroll Taylor Associates as an engineering inspector.
He was a former member of the Planning Board of Lewiston, a tructee of the GAR Cemetery, a past president of the Lewiston Municipal Credit Union, founder and past president of the Lewiston Administration Association. He was a governor appointed member of the examination board of Arborists Department, and a special deputy of the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post 110 in Port Charlotte.
Survivors include three daughters, Claudette (Raymond) Tardif of Englewood, Fla., Patricia (Leonard) Daley of New Gloucester and Cecilia (David) Elliott; four sons, Omer R. Parent Jr. (Lorraine) of Lewiston, A. Raymond Parent (Joan) of Port Charlotte, Fla., Norman Parent of Edgewater, Fla., and Gerland (Linda) Parent of North Port, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Juhette and Muriel.
Omer was predeceased by his wife, Gloria Saucier Parent; a sister, Arianne; and a brother, Marcel.
