AUGUSTA — The Don Campbell Trio will present a Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 11, as part of the Concerts at Jewett series at the University of Maine at Augusta.
Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Campbell opened for country legends Randy Travis, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Ricky Skaggs and Toby Keith.
He and bassist Tonya Shevenell and fiddler Andy Happel will perform seasonal favorites, including a few new ones by Campbell that are on his new holiday CD.
Campbell, co-based in Portland and Nashville, has wide crossover appeal with his smooth vocals and songwriting skills in adult contemporary, country, Celtic, bluegrass and rock.
He performs close to 200 shows a year, mostly with the Don Campbell Band based in New England and his smaller group, Restless Campbells, which tours across the country.
He has released 10 CDs, including one cover CD of some of his favorite writers.
The concert will begin at 2 p.m. at UMA Jewett Auditorium. Snow date: Dec. 18. Tickets are $10, $5 for students; children 12 and younger admitted free. They are available at Pat’s Pizza in Augusta, Apple Valley Books in Winthrop and at the door.
