RUMFORD — Charlene M. Johnson, 83, of Maple Street, Rumford, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Rumford Hospital, with loving family at her side, following a brief illness.

She was born in Rumford, Sept. 6, 1928, a daughter of John and Dorothea (Hilton) Waite. Charlene was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1946.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Charlene was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a longtime volunteer for the parish bingo.

Charlene enjoyed being with her family, family outings and spending time with her good friend, Eva Mooney.

Surviving are three daughters, Gloria Cote and husband, Robert, of North Ft. Myers, Fla., Nancy Bizier and husband, Conrad, of Jay and Mary Brown and husband, Randy, of Rumford; a son-in-law, Maurice Metivier of Jay; a brother, James Waite; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Glen, Jennifer, Jason T., Nicole, Kelly, Michael, Erica, Jason B. and Angela; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Adolphe Johnson Jr. on June 17, 1994; a daughter, Joanne Metivier; and two brothers, John and Robert Waite.
