PORTLAND (AP) — Bar owners in Portland are cracking down on underage drinking this holiday weekend, when many college students are home for Thanksgiving.

WMTW-TV reports that employees will be paying extra-close attention to drivers licenses and asking those suspected of offering fake IDs to sign their names to see if their signatures match what’s printed on their licenses.

When they find a fake ID, bar owners also will be sending text messages to about 20 other bars in the city to alert them to the fakes.

Those caught with fake IDs can face fines of up to $200.
