LIVERMORE FALLS — Santa’s ready to roll into town.
The Spirit of the Season Parade will be held at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning at MEMCO in Jay.
There will be floats and other highlights along the way down Main Street. Santa will arrive on a firetruck and will stop at the Livermore Falls Gazebo where a Christmas tree will be lit. They will move to the town office for refreshments, including hot chocolate and cookies, and to talk to children. Parents may bring their camera to take photos, Chairperson Rachel LaBrecque said.
“We’re trying to get more people to make floats,” she said.
The Spirit of the Season Committee is also asking people to donate $5 to “buy a bulb” for the tree at Geneva Hodgkins Memorial Park in memory or in honor of a loved one, she said.
The funds will be used to buy coats for children in Regional School Unit 73 in Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.
Last year, the group was able to provide 91 coats for local students. The coats go to Jay and Livermore Falls Head Start children up through high school.
The group is not doing a Santa’s workshop this year. That was a program that allowed children to spend 25 cents to buy Christmas gifts for family.
Those interested in purchasing a light bulb on the Spirit of the Season Christmas tree can send a $5 donation to Spirit of the Season, c/o Rachel LaBrecque, Androscoggin Bank, 38 Main St., Livermore Falls, ME 04254.
Checks may be made out to the Town of Livermore Falls. People may also stop at the bank to buy a bulb.
There are forms in local newspapers that can be sent in. Donations will be collected through Dec. 31.
Anyone interested in more information of any part of the program are asked to call LaBrecque at 897-3491, Barbara Cook, 645-7453, Jackie Knight, 897-3624, or Carmen Cullin, 779-7146.
