RUMFORD — The newest member of River Valley Rotary Club is Sylvia Wendt. She was born in Rumford and attended Stevens High School and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Farmington Teachers College and a master’s degree from Hood College in Frederick, Md. Sylvia has worked in Maine, Hawaii, Florida and Maryland with more than 30 years experience in teaching.

Wendt is married and has one son who lives in Maryland. Wendt recently returned to Rumford and was introduced to Rotary by her uncle, Leo Arsenault, who is also a native of Rumford and has been a lifelong member of Rotary in Rhode Island.

Wendt enjoys skiing, kayaking and ballroom dancing.
