LEWISTON — Charlotte T. Walton, 77, of Lewiston, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, at Marshwood Health Care with her family at her side.
Charlotte was born in Lewiston, March 8, 1934, a daughter of the late Gustave and Lottie (Stinchfield) Tardiff. She attended local schools and attended Edward Little High School in 1952. Charlotte was wed to Frank M. Walton, Oct. 16, 1954, and together they worked and raised their young family in the Lewiston-Auburn area. They were happily married for 53 years until Frank died in 2008.
She spent many years of her life providing for her family and anyone who needed a friend. She worked for Dunkin’ Donuts and Grants Bakery. She had a great passion for crafts, taught at the Lisbon Falls Adult Education,as well as teaching any of the area children or friends who had an interest to learn from her.
Much of her volunteer work included working and loving the children in which she came in contact. Many of the children grew up knowing this kind lady as a surrogate grandmother. For many years, Charlotte was a member of the Young at Heart senior citizens, Charlie’s Angel’s and Pat Caron art classes.
Charlotte is survived by her one daughter, Patricia McKenzie and her husband, Jeff; her three sons, Frank M. Walton Jr. of Turner, David K. Walton and his wife, Penny, of Lewiston and Michael W. Walton and his wife, Margie, of Clinton; she was blessed with 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Clifford of Washington; many beloved nieces and nephews; as well as many other special young people who called her their friend.
Besides her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Frank; three sisters, Margaret Bullard, Louise Murchison and Lillian O’Brien; and five brothers, Maurice, Gustave, Charles, Larry and Lester Tardiff.
