AUBURN — The Augusta Symphony Orchestra, which includes musicians from the Lewiston-Auburn area, will present a “Messiah” singalong on the weekend of Dec. 17.
To start the evening off in a festive way, the ASO will play seasonal music by American composer Leroy Anderson.
A quartet of soloists — Theresa Henderson, soprano, Judy Plano, alto, Virgil Bozeman, tenor and James O’Brien, bass — will sing arias and lead the audience in the choruses of Handel’s masterpiece.
The evening will conclude with the rousing “Hallelujah” chorus.
To encourage audience participation, “Messiah” libretti will be made available.
The ensemble, under the direction of Paul Ross, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Manchester’s Hope Baptist Church on Route 202; and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at High Street Congregational Church on Pleasant Street.
Free-will contributions will be accepted at the door. A reception will follow the Manchester performance. For more information, visit www.asomaine.org.
