LEWISTON — Seasonal music performed with vocals, fiddle, viola, cello and guitar will fill LA Arts’ DownStage Theater on Friday, Dec. 9. The program, titled “Christmas Sojourn,” features Lewiston musicians Greg and Jessie Boardman plus Ellen Gawler of Belgrade Lakes.
The three will sing and play old and new carols as well as songs and dance tunes from the Old and New Worlds.
All three are well-known musicians around Maine and beyond, having performed for years at festivals, fairs and all manner of community gatherings. Gawler and Greg Boardman are past recipients of the state’s Master Traditional Artist grants for their work with aspiring fiddlers.
Long-standing staff members at Maine Fiddle Camp, the three musicians continue to pursue their passion for teaching throughout the year — Ellen at Pineland Suzuki School, Greg in Lewiston Public Schools and Jessie in her private studio.
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, $10 in advance, $12 at the door, are available at LA Arts, by calling 782-7228 and www.ticketturtle.com/index.php?ticketing=laart. DownStage Theater is at 5 Canal Street Alley.
