AUBURN — Week 3 results from Auburn/Lewiston YMCA Biddy Basketball:
Pee Wee Division
Sun Journal 21, Morrison & Sylvester 21: Joey Vallee toed the line with his team down one and three seconds left in the game. He knocked down one of two to tie it up for Morrison & Sylvester and that’s how it ended in an exciting see-saw battle between two evenly matched squads. Vallee paced his squad with a team-high 10 points followed closely by Ethan Chute’s nine. Cooper Watkins chipped in a bucket to round out the scoring. Calvin Ames, Tyler Murray, Alex Thistlewaite, Finnegan Thistle, Addison Dostie and Simon Hayes all played integral supporting roles for M&S.
Devonte Scott led SJ with a game-high 12 points. Other scorers included Jamaine Luizzo (five), Andrea Demers (two) and Wyatt Morse (two). Leading the defense for SJ were Elijah Demers, Emily Kramarz, Noah Peck and Ari Perry.
Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shoppe 29, Austin Associates 20: Dan Milks’ 16 points proved to be the difference for Sam’s as it outlasted Austin Associates. The remainder of the scoring was distributed evenly among Hunter Young (five), Nick Kaiser (four), Anna LeBlanc (two) and Ray Nichols (two). Kora Martel’s effort helped inspire the winning attack.
It was ladies first for Austin. Lydia Celani and Elizabeth Marcotte led the scoring with eight points each, with Julia Berube adding two. Caleb Davis chipped in with a bucket to round out the scoring. Jason Brooker and Zachery Jawer were key defenders.
M&P Used Auto Parts 16, C.B. Bachmann 13: Corey Weirs knocked down two free throws with one second left in the game to ice it for M&P in a win over C.B. Bachmann. Weirs led all scorers with 10 points. Justin Bulmer added four points and Harrison Gray two for the winners. Sam Courtemanche, Aaron Galway, Joey Shea and John Shea contributed great hustle in a physical, defensive battle.
Bachmann got scoring contributions from a variety of players. Dominick Jacobs led the way with four points. Dylan Sellinger (three), Hannah Chaput (two), Tyler Jalbert (two) and Austin Sellinger (two) closed out the scoring for Bachmann. Caroline White, Mike Chaput and Jack Hart were defensive stoppers.
Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli 28, Anthoine Financial Group 18: Heidi’s jumped out to a 12-2 first quarter advantage and withstood a furious fourth quarter uprising from Anthoine to capture the win. It was a true team effort for Heidi’s with seven players finding their way into the scoring column. Dylan Bilodeau tallied a game-high eight with Caroline Hammond and Ben Poland adding six each. Adding a bucket each were Cameron Irish, Emily Piper, Ryan Marston and Connor Leclerc. Landon Cougle provided excellent playmaking in the win.
Nick Gagne scored all of his game-high 10 points during a furious fourth-quarter comeback attempt for a proud Anthoine bunch. Jordan Cummings, Anson Perry, Meaza Paradie and Braden Paradie each contributed two points in defeat. Lindsay Adams, Ella Perry and Marshal Adams added hustle and defense.
Junior Division
Leary & DeTroy 25, Emerson Toyota 19: Ethan Brown led a balanced attack with seven points to steer Leary & DeTroy to victory over Emerson Toyota in a hard fought, physical battle. Adding four points each for the winners were Austin Brown, Ethan Bosse, Khadar Heeban and Chantel Ouelette. Serena Mower added the final bucket to round out the scoring. Lauren Jutras was an imposing presence in the paint, and Khalid Heeban added energy to the winning formula.
Alex Thompson (six points) and Jacob Kyajohnian (five) led a group of six scorers for Emerson. Storm Jipson, Rosalie White, Jaden Legare and Kyle Herald all contributed two points each. Olivia DuBois, Madison Thistlewaite and Robert Tremaine provided defensive energy.
Downeast Financial 39, Gee & Bee Sporting Goods 32: Downeast jumped out to a nine-point halftime lead and held serve the rest of the way in a well-played victory over Gee & Bee. Grant Hartley and Hank Duval paved the way for the winners with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Grace Beaudet and Jayson Taylor completed the scoring with six points each. Nick Davis, Sofia Hartley, Katelyn Jipson and Sarah Sterling were vital pieces to the winning puzzle.
Caleb Yarnevich led all scorers with 15 for Gee & Bee. Giles Paradie (seven points), Ryan Therriault (six), Christian Beliveau (two) and Selina Gathier (two) contributed the remainder of the scoring. Kathryn Childs, Jonah Crowell and Shane Gauthier led the way defensively.
American Concrete 39, Hoop Camp 21: Using four consistent quality quarters of basketball American Concrete upended a shorthanded and undersized Hoop Camp squad. Seven players found the score sheet for the winners, led by Patrick Luizzo’s 10 points. Mohamed Mohamed (eight), Tyler Morin (seven), Otis Caron (six), Keegan Pelletier (four), Grace Fontaine (two) and Courtney Richard (two) rounded out scoring. Nick Hartley and Hunter McQuade were stout defensively in the win.
Piper Norcross and Richard Thurston tossed in eight points apiece for Hoop Camp. Taylor Depot added four and Ryan Salk one in defeat. Brian Demers, Spencer Morrill and Camden Poisson battled defensively to the final buzzer.
Platz Associates 37, Pat’s Pizza 34: Down by four after three quarters, Platz outscored Pat’s 8-1 in the decisive fourth quarter en route to victory in a very well played game by both teams. Ben English lit it up for 16 points and had plenty of support, with five teammates also registering points. Abdulwahab Mohamed added six. Teagan Galway, Emmy Lashua and Joel Stubbs contributed four each. Nathan Farnsworth chipped in with three and Julia Masters was a strong defender for Platz.
Tyler Libby had 13 points and Dan Nalley 10 to lead the way for Pat’s. Devaunte Rembert (six), Josh Hamel (four) and Josh Kaiser (one) combined for the remaining points. Oceanna Chamberlain, Jade Perry and Julia Milks set the tone defensively.
