JAY — A Livermore Falls woman faces charges of aggravated trafficking of illegal drugs on school grounds.

Two men were also charged Wednesday in connection to the case, police Chief Larry White Sr. said.

Danielle Schmidt, 23, of Livermore Falls, was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drug in a school zone, White said.

Joshua Carlton, 28, also of Livermore Falls, was arrested on a felony charge of possession of schedule drug and violation of conditions of release, he said.

Daniel Fitch, 29, of Jay, was issued a summons on a felony charge of possession of  scheduled drugs, he said.

Jay police obtained information regarding Schmidt trafficking in schedule drugs outside of the Spruce Mountain Adult Education Department, which is located on the bottom level of the Spruce Mountain Middle School in what used to be the Community Building, White said.

Police also received information that Carlton was going to the Adult Education Department to meet with Schmidt to purchase prescription pills from her, he said.

The vehicle, a pickup truck, was stopped by officer Nicholas Gulliver after it left the school. The truck was operated by Carlton and Fitch was a passenger in that vehicle, he said.

Carlton, who is out on bail on an unrelated charge, had conditions to allow for search, was searched as was the truck, White said.

Gulliver located a blue aluminum container behind the rear passenger seat and a silver aluminum container under the rear seat, White said.

“Both containers contained oxycodone 30 mg pills,” he said in a release.

White said he located Schmidt who was then interviewed by lead investigator, Detective Richard Caton IV, who subsequently arrested her.

Schmidt was released on $500 cash bail from the Franklin County jail in Farmington, White said.

Carlton was still being held at the jail Wednesday night on the violation of conditions of release, he said.
