BRYANT POND — Annella Burnham “Nella,” 90, of South Paris passed into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the home of her daughter, Joyce Howe and her husband, Steve.

She was the daughter of Melvin Wilbur and Grace Stratton Wilbur born at home on Nov. 8, 1921, at the historical Coaling Station (now Lamoine State Park) in Lamoine. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1939, and married Raymond L. Burnham on March 15, 1941.

They lived in Gorham and Otisfield before making Bryant Pond their home for the next 56 years. She made many friends while an employee at Stowell Silk Spool Co. and was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of the Bryant Pond Baptist Church and active in the Woodstock Historical Society. She was also a member of Franklin Grange, Woodstock/Greenwood Senior Citizens, Oxford County Extension, Past President Tri-Town Rescue Auxiliary, West Paris and a den leader for Woodstock Boy Scouts.

She enjoyed reading, puzzles, making dried apple head dolls, chair caning, knitting, crocheting and playing cards, especially Nickel and Canasta. She loved her family and friends; taking care of those around her; puttering around her home in Bryant Pond and at her family cabin on the coast in Lamoine. “She was loved by all who met and knew her.”
