POLAND — A local man who was knifed in the back is recovering from his wounds and an Auburn man is in jail, charged with elevated aggravated assault, Lt. Glenn Holt said Friday.
Christopher Coolidge, 20, was stabbed multiple times at 4:49 p.m. Thursday at 59 Walnut St., his residence, after a run-in with three men, Holt said.
He said Coolidge was taken to Central Maine Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries. Holt, with Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department, declined to release a motive for the attack.
“The perpetrators left the scene,” Holt said. “Once we were able to determine what they were in for a vehicle, we put out a (be-on-the-lookout alert). They were actually located in Skowhegan.”
Police arrested Linwood Edwards, 20, of Auburn, in the early morning Friday. He was being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $10,000 bail on the new charge and a probation violation.
“It’s still under investigation,” Holt said. “There may or may not be other people charged or more charges brought later on.”
