LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Diane Bernatchez was celebrated by the Rev. Nathan March Friday at Holy Cross Church of the Prince of Peace Parish, following prayers at the Pinette and Lynch Funeral Home. During the Mass the first reading of the Old Testament was presented by a cousin of Diane’s, Anne Morrow. The second reading of the New Testament was by close family friend, Cindy Schab. The prayer of the faithful was recited by Dianne Fazio, who is a godmother of Diane’s granddaughter, Marie Claire Owens. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Diane’s daughter and granddaughter, Claire and Marie Claire Owens. Words of remembrance were read by Diane’s close friend, Susan Conroy. Bearers were Roland Moreau, Anne White, Sue Dubois, Denis Dubois, Pauline Smith and Jerry Poisson. At the conclusion of services, all were invited to a brunch reception held by Century 21 Real Estate in Lewiston. Burial was private at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
