The Lewiston City Council unanimously issued $3 million in revenue bonds Tuesday for the acquisition and renovation of the former L & A Tire building into medical and professional offices.

According to Jim Begert of Development Concepts Inc., the project will be known as the Main Street Plaza. The former retreading facility, located at the intersection of Main and Sabattus streets, includes enough land to provide adequate parking, he said. Plans call for work to begin as early as January, with the building ready for occupancy by fall 1987.
