JAY — Organizers are hoping for more volunteers to step forward to help with the Fill the Cupboard project being held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9-11, at the Jay Plaza.

The intent is to have two to three people collecting donations at the trailer set up near Hannaford each day, Don Simoneau, one of the organizers, said.

They will also need volunteers after 5 p.m. Sunday to help transfer donated items to the Tri-Town Ministerial Food Cupboard in the basement of the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church on Church Street in Livermore Falls. The cupboard serves residents of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.

Needed most for the cupboard is money or nonperishable food items, Simoneau said.

Food items needed include pasta, pasta sauce, canned baked beans, canned soups, canned vegetables, fruit juices, macaroni and cheese, canned tuna, cereals and peanut butter.

Also needed are personal care items such as baby diapers, baby wipes, toilet tissue, soap, toothpaste and shampoo.

Money will be accepted for the cupboard, and all checks must be made out to the Tri-Town Ministerial Food Cupboard.

For more on how someone can help, Simoneau may be contacted by phone at 897-4139 or by email at amlegiona1a@msn.com
