Angered over the loss of one of two French-Canadian cable television channels, several Lewiston residents claimed Thursday to have gathered hundreds of signatures on petitions asking Adams-Russell Cablevision to return the channel.
Roger Jalbert of Lewiston estimated he has collected more than 300 signatures and more are coming in every day.
Jalbert is one of what appears to be a growing number of people opposed to the cable company’s decision to drop CHLT-TV of Sherbrooke, P.Q.
Several people are independently circulating petitions in Lewiston and Auburn to protest the change.
