PORTLAND — Claude Methot, 62, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, Dec. 3.

He was born in Lewiston, May 5, 1949, the youngest child of Francois P. and Cecile Methot. Educated in Lewiston schools, he graduated from Lewiston High School in 1967, and then earned his BS degree from Husson College in Bangor in 1971. He married Janice Cole on June 3, 1989. They had met as passengers on the Portland Metro and celebrated their commitment by getting married on the bus.

Claude began his career in retail in the Bangor area for a few years before moving to Portland and making it his home. There he worked in sales of paper goods and restaurant supplies, last working for Bard Industries. He retired in September of this year. He was an avid cook, enjoyed going to casinos in Bangor and Connecticut, and loved Labrador Retrievers.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Methot; his sisters, Jacqueline Methot Bate of Lewiston and Suzanne Methot Auble of Virginia; he will be missed by his nephew, John Bate of Lewiston; and his nieces, Karen Bate-Pelletier (husband Tim), also of Lewiston and Renay Galati (husband Michael) of Virginia.

He was predeceased by his parents.
