BRUNSWICK — The Frontier Cafe’s grand reopening on Friday, Dec. 9, will feature a performance by one of Maine’s local-gone-national bands, The Jason Spooner Trio.
Over the past four months, the band — Jason Spooner, guitar and vocals; Reed Chambers, drums and percussion, and Adam Frederick, bass and vocals — has opened for acts as varied as B.B. King, Michael Franti, Jackie Greene and Sara Bareilles.
Besides recent press in High Times Magazine and USA Today, the Spooner Trio’s latest album, “Sea Monster,” has been featured heavily on Sirius/XM’s The Loft channel, on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and at more than 11,000 Starbucks retail locations nationwide.
Earlier this year, the album reached the No. 18 spot on the national BDS Indicator chart for all of Triple A Radio. It was the only independent album on the chart at the time.
The Jason Spooner Trio has returned to Maine after completing a fall tour with its New England neighbors, The Ryan Montbleau Band, which included dates in Colorado, Utah, Washington, Oregon and California.
The cafe has undergone a kitchen and restaurant expansion, and its counter is now a full-service bar.
The “Home for the Holidays” show begins at 8 p.m.; doors open one hour earlier. Tickets are $10 in advance, call 725-5222; or $12 at the door. The cafe is at 14 Maine St., Mill 3, Fort Andross.
