AUBURN — Holiday movies will be shown on Dec. 13 and 20 at Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m., the feature movie will be “The Bells of St. Mary’s” starring Bing Crosby and Ingrid Bergman. Father O’Malley the unconventional priest from “Going My Way” continues his work for the Catholic Church. This time he is sent to St. Mary’s, a run-down parochial school on the verge of condemnation. He and Sister Benedict work together in an attempt to save the school, though their differing methods often lead to good-natured disagreements. “The Bells of St. Mary’s” was the first cinematic sequel to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.

On Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m., the feature movie will be “Christmas in Connecticut.” In the movie, journalist Elizabeth Lane is one of the country’s most famous food writers. In her columns, she describes herself as a hard working farm woman, taking care of her children and being an excellent cook. But this is all lies. In reality she is an unmarried New Yorker who can’t even boil an egg. The recipes come from her good friend Felix. The owner of the magazine she works for has decided that a heroic sailor will spend his Christmas on her farm. Miss Lane knows that her career is over if the truth comes out, but what can she do?

Both movies take place in the Androscoggin Room. The 50 cent admission price includes popcorn and a beverage.
