Coach: Tim Farrar (fourth year)
Last year’s record: 9-10, lost in Eastern Class A quarterfinal
Returning players: Seniors — Shawn Ricker (6-2 guard), Corbin Hyde (6-3 forward), Jake Dumas (6-4 center), Cody Mousseau (6-2 forward), Joe McKinnon (5-11 guard), Luke Cote (6-1 guard), Matt Chouinard (5-10 guard); Juniors — Steven Patrie (6-4 forward), Donne Agossou (6-0 guard), Abdi Hussein (6-2 forward).
Key losses: Abdi Osman, Sheldon Jones.
Promising newcomers: Senior — Erik Wilson (6-4 center); Juniors — Liban Barre (6-2 forward), Hussein Abdillahi (6-0 guard), Shuaib Naji (6-3 forward), Adam Poliquin (5-10 guard), Josh Thomas (5-11 guard).
Outlook: The Blue Devils must deal with something that hasn’t been the rule in recent years: High preseason expectations. Lewiston improved from two wins to nine last year, overcoming a six-game losing streak along the way to make its first playoff appearance in five years. Hyde and Ricker give Lewiston one of the best inside-out combinations in the KVAC. Patrie and Dumas join with Hyde to create a formidable frontcourt. The Devils were picked to finish in the top half of the league and have the talent to make a run in Augusta.
Coach’s comment: “We feel like we have a playoff team. The expectations are higher than they’ve been certainly in my time here and probably quite a while before that.” — Coach Tim Farrar
