Coach: Heather Green (first year)

Last year’s record: Boys: Fourth in KVAC, seventh in Class A; Girls: Seventh in KVAC

Returning players: Boys: Seniors — Rudy Pandora (shot put), Leo Gaghan (shot put), Luke Olehowski (sprints); Juniors — Mohammed Barre (distance), Nasir Abdirahman (sprints, long jump); Girls: Junior — Mary Turmel (sprints, hurdles, pole vault), Jess Lalonde (high jump), Audrey Jumper (high jumper); Sophomore — Faith Shaw (distance).

Key losses: Ali Hersi, Hussein Ibrahim, Liz Dixon.

Newcomers: Girls: Sophomores — Taylor True, Mana Abdi, Olivia Norton; Freshman — Lauren Lecompte.

Outlook: The Blue Devils are young but have a lot of returning talent among their 30 girls and 45 boys. Shaw will be chasing the school 800 record, as will the 4×800 meter relay team. Lalonde and Jumper should rank among the KVAC’s top high jumpers. Pandora will be a favorite to win the shot put at states and will be pushed by Gaghan. Olehowski, who suffered a broken foot during soccer season, should be a state qualifier in the sprints. Barre was one of the top cross country runners in the KVAC and hopes to make an impact in the distances.

Coach’s comment: “Both teams have a lot of returners. We’re looking for improvement.” — Coach Heather Green
