Coach: Ryan Deschenes (sixth year)

Last year’s record: 9-10, lost in Western Class C preliminary

Returning players: Seniors — Joe Bryant (5-8 guard), Tom Applegate (6-7 center), David Dean (5-11 guard), Ian McCracken (6-0 forward); Junior — Zak Johnson (5-7 guard); Sophomores — Drew Gosselin (6-1 forward), Eric Ulin (6-3 center/forward), Madison Jalbert (6-0 forward/guard).

Key losses: Jake Sicotte, Zach Albert, Kurt Johnson, Frank Montana.

Top newcomers: Junior — Nick Hatfield (6-0 junior); Sophomores — Matt Dyer (6-2 guard), Cameron Raymond (5-9 guard); Freshman — Mike Bryant (5-10 guard).

Outlook: The Saints got on a roll at the end of the 2010-11 season, winning their last six games against some of the top teams in the MVC just to make the playoffs. The inside-outside combination of Applegate and Bryant should help St. Dom’s build on that momentum. Bryant is one of the top returning scorers in the league. Applegate has good shooting touch for his size. Dean, Johnson and Gosselin all played significant roles during the stretch run a year ago. Expect St. Dom’s to keep its streak of tournament appearances alive.

Coach’s comment: “We believe we can be right in the mix. If we can commit on the defensive end again and build offensive chemistry, we should be a solid basketball team.” — Coach Ryan Deschenes
