ALEXANDRIA, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire Fish and Game officials say wardens and Alexandria volunteer firefighters helped to carry a Boston woman off Mount Cardigan after she was injured on a hike.

Sgt. Brian Suttmeier says 33-year-old Meline (meh-leh-NAY’) Nichols either sprained or broke her ankle Saturday afternoon as her group was hiking down the 3,155-foot-tall mountain. Suttmeier says she had to be carried the final 2 miles to a waiting ambulance.

Nichols was taken to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, N.H., where a spokeswoman said Saturday evening that she was in good condition.
