CASCO — The wedding of Gina D’Avignon and Rick Smith was held at 4 p.m. on July 16 at the United Methodist Church in Casco. Kerry Cox-Irish, friend and notary public, officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Smith is the daughter of Beverly White of Mechanic Falls and the late Robert Burns. Mr. Smith is the son of Harold and Carol Smith of Auburn.

The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Thurston Burns, wore a silk classic Empire gown with sweetheart neckline and shoulder straps, decorated with white pearls and sparkling beads.

Davida Dillingham, lifelong best friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jenna Hoxie-Smith and Lianne Hoxie-Smith, daughters of the bridegroom. Assistants were Drew Dillingham and Julia Dillingham, nieces of the bride, and the flower girl was Hailey Haskell, niece of the bride.

The father of the bridegroom, Harold Smith, performed the duties of best man. Ushers were Gary Smith and Mike Smith, brothers of the bridegroom.

A reception followed on the Songo River Queen. A pre-wedding trip was held in Aruba and the post wedding trip was held at Long Lake in Casco, with family. The couple is residing in Auburn.

The bride is a 1986 graduate of Edward Little High School and a 1992 graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She received a master’s degree in 1998 in counseling from the University of Southern Maine.

The bridegroom is a 1986 graduate of Edward Little High School and a 1990 graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He received a master’s degree in counseling in 1998 from the University of Southern Maine.
