PARIS — The board of selectmen will consider Chairman Ted Kurtz’s letter of resignation from his board chairmanship Monday.

Stepping down as chairman will also end his position as the board’s representative to the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments. Kurtz’s letter of resignation came on Dec. 1, three days after a heated board meeting where other selectmen said Kurtz was being disrespectful and Kurtz said other selectmen were ignoring the board’s bylaws.

At the Nov. 28 meeting, Selectman Jean Smart had suggested electing a new board chairman. Selectman Robert Kirchherr said at the time that the bylaws only allow an election after the annual town meeting for a yearlong chairmanship.

In an email last week, Kurtz said he planned to remain on the board.

The board is set to discuss revising the selectmen by-laws and to consider the plot plan for the old Paris Fire Station on Pine Street. The board plans to put the building up for sale, but is dividing the plot to use the lot behind the building to store snow in the winter.

The board will also see applications for the Ad-Hoc Road Committee and hear an update from the Land Use Advisory Committee. The board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Paris Town Office.
