AUBURN — Lennie R. Asselin, 68, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully, with his loving family and friends by his side, on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin, following a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 9, 1943, the son of the late Fern and Ruth (Cameron) Asselin. He was a 1962 graduate of Edward Little High School. He served in the U.S. Army in 1964 and 1965. Lennie was in the warehouse and distribution business for most of his career. He was president of Clark International for several years.

He was a New England sports enthusiast. He especially loved his Patriots. Lennie enjoyed coaching Little League in the community for many years. Len loved playing golf. He was a member of Martindale Country Club for more than 30 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Len had a big influence on people. “To know Len was to love Len.”

He is survived by his loving wife, Denise, “The Babe,” of Lewiston, whom he married on July 7, 2001; his four children, Jim Asselin of Seattle, Wash., Charma Asselin of Nashville, Tenn., Bill Asselin and his wife, Wendi of Port Angelis, Wash. and Coby Asselin of Auburn; his brothers, Dick Asselin and his wife, Irene of Auburn and Fern Asselin and his wife, Murielle of Lewiston; a sister, Suzette Schepers of Brooksville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
