LEWISTON — Elly Leona Bennett, 82, of Auburn, died on Tuesday, Dec. 13,  at Central Maine Medical Center.

Elly was born in Lewiston, Sept. 19, 1929, the daughter of Guy and Gladys (Wile) Seger.

Elly worked in local shoe factories and throughout her life she was an avid member of Marston’s Corner Baptist Church. She was well-known for her cooking and enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and playing Yahtzee. Elly supported many local community programs.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Bennett and his wife, Robin, of Gorham; daughter, Deborah Hallowell and her husband, Greg, of Auburn; daughter-in-law, Charie Barker; sister, Norma Foster; brother, Rudy Seger; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Elly was predeceased by her husband, Wesley Bennett Sr.; sons, Wesley Bennett Jr. and Richard Bennett Sr.; grandson, Richard Bennett Jr.; and many brothers and sisters.
