SABATTUS — Sabattus Fire Department will now have the tools available to save the lives of the community’s beloved pets. Community Credit Union of Lewiston and Auburn recently donated a Wag’N O2 Fur Life Kit, which will allow firefighters to administer oxygen to house pets that suffer smoke inhalation, carbon monoxide poisoning and heat exhaustion.

“Losing a home in a fire is devastating. Losing a pet in that fire can make the devastation unbearable,” said Jennifer Hogan, marketing/business development director for Community Credit Union. “We feel that if firefighters are able to save the family’s pet it will go a long way in their recovery process.”

The Wag’N O2 Fur Life Kits contains three different size oxygen masks for pets. The special design allows firefighters to administer oxygen to many types of pets including dogs, cats and even birds. All members of the Sabattus Fire Department will receive training and instructions on how to use the masks as well as how to perform CPR on cats and dogs.
