DIXFIELD — RSU 10 is offering a retirement incentive to staff members who meet age and years-of-employment requirements.
This is the second time an incentive has been offered, Superintendent Tom Ward said.
Two years ago it resulted in nearly a dozen employees taking advantage of the offer. He said the district saved about $120,000 in 2009.
He said another 15 to 20 employees could be eligible for the retirement incentive offered this year.
The offer is $5,000 per year for three years. The offer expires April 15, Ward said.
“This will be another very tough year,” he said of the upcoming budget development process.
In other matters, the board named three student representatives to the board as nonvoting members. Alex Parent, a senior at Mountain Valley High School, attended his first meeting on Monday.
The others are seniors Ashley Hutchinson of Buckfield Junior-Senior High School and Angela Ronan of Dirigo High School in Dixfield.
Ward said the young representatives will serve as resources by providing student perspectives to the board.
All three aren’t expected to attend all board meetings.
