At an enthusiastic meeting of the Auburn Board of Trade held last evening the question of good roads for Maine and especially for Auburn was discussed. Ex-Mayor A. Q. Miller of Auburn gave an extended address on the question which was followed by a general discussion in which all those present took part. It was proposed to start a local organization to see that Auburn should have her highways better looked after.
50 years ago, 1961
Lepage Baking Co. reported yesterday that $100,000 worth of equipment, including an automatic cooling machine and three new wrapping machines, will be installed in the firm’s second floor addition to its Park Street establishment. The doughnut department, now located in Auburn, will be moved to the new facilities. The firm’s expansion plans were reported a few weeks ago.

TURNER — Selectmen on Monday night recognized the seven members of the town’s Bicentennial Committee with written acknowledgements of their contributions to the community.
The seven members who organized the Bicentennial celebration held in July were Annette Leavitt, Bertha Goodwin, Eva Morris, Paul and Mavis Varney, Joan Ricker and Jody Goodwin.
