Teen Read Week, an initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association, was started in 1998. This year’s theme was Picture It @ your library, encouraging teens to read graphic novels and other illustrated materials, seek out creative books or imagine the world through literature, just for the fun of it. Brianna Livingston and Alan McBride are pictured with their favorite young adult books, “Vampire Academy” by Richelle Mead and “Touching Spirit Bear” by Ben Mikaelsen. Ninety-seven teens stopped by Auburn Public Library during the week to write their favorite titles on a paper pumpkin near the Teenspace.
