LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Trudie R. Garey, 65, died Dec. 10, at Meadowview Health and Rehab surrounded by her family.

She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 11, 1946, daughter of Ruth M. (Lunt) Small and Preston Waye. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1964.

She and her husband, Wesley, founded the BYF program at Court Street Baptist Church. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, both in the U.S. and abroad. She loved working with teens.

She considered her greatest joy her children and later her grandchildren. She was a teacher’s aid, librarian and volleyball coach for LFCA in the early 80s.

She is survived by her children, Denise Willey, spouse, Donn and children, Jordan and Heather of Birmingham, Ala., and Christopher Garey, spouse, Tonya and children, Trevor and Patrick of Atlanta, Ga.

She was predeceased by her spouse, Wesley A. Garey; mother, Ruth Small; father, Preston Waye; and brother, Milford Waye.
