I was shocked at the choice of words Robert Macdonald chose upon learning of his victory in Lewiston’s mayoral race.

I voted for him because I felt he would make the tough decisions that need to be made in Lewiston in order for this town to prosper.

Lewiston doesn’t want or need someone to bully his way. Lewiston needs someone to make tough decisions on tough issues. The city doesn’t need someone to run off the Somalis. What is needed is someone who will cut aid to everyone who is receiving it without deserving it.

Housing support doesn’t need to be eliminated; just clean up the housing that’s there.

Lewiston needs businesses that create jobs. If I were a business looking for a place to settle, I certainly would not be looking for the likes of Mr. Macdonald to endorse me.

My recommendation to the new mayor is to quit talking and start doing the right thing for this town. We don’t want or need a bully. We need someone to guide this town forward with respect, dignity and class.

Mr. Macdonald displayed none of those things in his comments on Dec. 13.
