AUBURN — Edward Richard Murdock, 78, of Turner, died Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Hospice House.
He was born March 4, 1933, son of Hazel and Edward Francis Murdock in Newton, Mass. He graduated from Deering High School and later completed courses as a civil draftsman. He was employed as a civil draftsman for CMP, until his retirement in 1993.
Ed was a veteran of the Army and served in Korea during 1954 as a military police.
He was a devoted husband and friend of 22 years to Mary Ann (Morency) Murdock. One of his favorite pastimes besides fishing, hiking and dancing was the weekend picnics, year round, regardless of the weather, with the love of his life, Mary Ann.
Ed was blessed with a God-given ability to recreate wildlife with only a vision in his mind. Ed created a masterful collection of New England sceneries and wildlife. Many of his works appeared in art galleries and on the covers of Maine wildlife magazines.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Cynthia Sylvester of Arizona, Linda Murdock of Washington, and Kyle Murdock of Dexter; stepdaughter, Robin Cox of Gardiner; stepson, Paul Puiia of Auburn; and two grandchildren.
Paul Puiia is grateful for Ed’s loving support through many difficult eye surgeries and ultimately in the acquiring of his seeing-eye dog, Grant.
Ed is now at peace and at rest in the arms of the master artist.
