I had the honor and pleasure of traveling with the Wreaths Across America official escort from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery.

During this trip I had the distinct pleasure of meeting and spending time with the first lady from the state of Maine, Ann LePage. She conducted herself in such a professional and caring manner, I felt compelled to let the people of Maine know the type of person representing them as their first lady.

Many, many times, Mrs. LePage made sure that everyone from the WAA escort went before her in lines at the hotel and lines for meal time. She was always considerate of others and commented that the veterans deserve all of the recognition and honor.

It was impressive to watch such citizenship in action from someone who could have easily taken care of herself first, yet she never used her position for preferential treatment.
